Garden 9
25C Calais Terrace - Lyndell Shannon
A garden is never finished. Five years into what I thought was a ten-year project, my garden’s shape is finally becoming clear. What was a weed-infested steep hillside is developing into a uniquely Waiheke garden that takes its inspiration from the surrounding landscape, and combines bold simple lines and complex planting. Sweeping beds of shrubs, perennials, grasses and roses surround a contemporary house. Below the house, vertical rows of roses and shrubs mimic the vineyards across the bay. Extensive weed removal has revealed a landscape of cliffs and terraces where the next phase of the garden is taking shape.
