Oneroa Secret Gardens – 5 Church Bay Road, Oneroa

What a surprise…from the entrance, you have no idea what lies ahead. The owners started planning the garden after the house and accommodation units were completed in 2013. The aim was to create a space where their guests could relax and enjoy privacy and birdsong.

The first step was a stunning and extensive boardwalk. It meanders through the property – opening up the space and creating easy access. Over the years, the garden has evolved, adapting to local conditions and an increasing desire for more colour. Josie says there was no ‘garden theme,’ but during COVID many of the original plants and grasses were removed, and an effort was made to replace them with red, orange and white plantsas much as possible! Stone paths have been added to allow even more accessibility to this wonderfully colourful, perfumed and peaceful ‘secret’!
