The development of this newly established garden began around 18 months ago after a new house was built as part of our existing olive groves.  Although I had excellent help with the initial planting from the team at Roughly Refined Landscapes, it is now largely a DIY garden on a windy site overlooking Matiatia Bay. Existing plantings of natives, along with pre-grown totara hedges and Little Gem magnolias provide structure for the formal mass planting of Mutabilis roses in front of the terrace. The garden in front of the house has a variety of Japanese maples along with gardenias and camellias. Mass planting of Rain lilies (Zephyranthes candida), Star Jasmine and Muehlenbeckia provide ground cover. Raised totara planter boxes for vegetables and herbs, and a small orchard complete the garden.
