Waiheke Honey House:
Bees in the eco system

Totara Road Olive Grove is home to the Waiheke Honey House and Cafe . The 5.6h property features a 1000 tree olive grove, extensive wetlands under restoration, and bees.
Every two hours there will be a guided walk around the wetland to look at the restoration of nature’s garden and discussion of the importance to our ecosystem.
The conclusion will be a hive tour: participants will be gathered in a hive and then we will open a hive to explore the world of the bee. Discussion about insects and ecosystems to follow.
Walking tour: allow 30-45 mins.

Nourish Gardens Flower Farm grows hundreds of dahlias every year for cut flowers. Owner Christy Ralphs will give a presentation on growing dahlias, demonstrating how to divide tubers and take cuttings.She’ll share her favourite varieties for cutting, and how to manage common pests and diseases organically.

Managing predators in your garden

Imagine our island being a haven for unique and ancient species of birds, lizards, insects and plants, a place of exceptional beauty for both current and future generations! Our community established Te Korowai o Waiheke, a charitable Trust to eradicate predators and restore our island song together, making Waiheke the world’s first predator free “urban island”. The first stage of this ambitious project is stoat eradication island-wide.
Join us for an informative workshop led by Jo Ritchie, Te Korowai o Waiheke Operations Manager. The focus of this workshop will be on predator management tools and their
benefits, how the stoat eradication programme will work and how you can help.
