Mudbrick Vineyard 126 Church Bay Road

The Mudbrick Gardens have been a labour of love for 28 years and counting. There have been many experiments that have both worked and failed along the years at Mudbrick. We have created an Italian/French vibe for the property aligning with the soils. Olives, lavender, rosemary and geraniums tend to grow close to grapes the world over. We crop flowers for our accommodation houses, to provide beautiful arrangements.

8 Hillside Road, Surfdale

Gerda and Kim's garden is eclectic and the design has evolved over the last 15 years. The garden feeds us with fruit trees and vegetables and delights us with flowers. Long term commitment to composting and the help of our chicken has created much-improved soil conditions. We try to recycle as much as possible and turn pallets or old timber into fences or other garden structures.

14 Natzka Road, Ostend

Our garden is in its development phase being only eighteen months old. After our first winter we realised drainage was a priority so with the Gecko Landscape team the section was cleared, drainage completed and within a few months a garden started to develop. We wanted no lawn, low maintenance plants, vege gardens, plants to attract birds, bees and butterflies. Our planting is a mixture of natives, cuttings from previous gardens, palms and a colourful eclectic mix of whatever takes out fancy.

25C Calais Terrace, Ostend

A garden is never finished. Three years into what, I think, is a ten-year project, my garden’s shape is becoming clear. What was a weed-infested steep hillside is developing into a uniquely Waiheke garden that takes its inspiration from the surrounding landscape, and combines bold simple lines and complex planting. Sweeping beds of shrubs, perennials, grasses and roses surround a contemporary house.
